Courtney Cohen, LMHC.

Founder and Psychotherapist at Authentic Healing Psychotherapy

Do your emotions sometimes feel overwhelming? Maybe you’re the one who keeps the peace, puts others first, and struggles to say no. You might notice the same patterns repeating in your relationships, even when you’re trying to do things differently. Often these experiences are connected to earlier events that shaped how you learned to navigate emotions and connection.

If this sounds familiar, know that you don’t have to navigate it alone. My first priority is to offer you a space that’s safe, trustworthy, and free of judgment. Together, we’ll explore where these patterns developed, build insight into your thoughts and reactions, and develop practical tools to navigate big emotions and relate to yourself and others in healthier ways.

What to expect from a session with me

In our work together, I focus on helping you understand the thoughts, emotions, and relational patterns that may be keeping you stuck. We’ll explore big emotions, people-pleasing tendencies, and the ways past experiences continue to shape your life.

Sessions are a space to slow down, notice what’s happening inside, and begin to shift to new ways of being that feel more authentic to you. In our sessions we incorporate traditional talk therapy approaches to gain insight and understanding, as well as more somatic body-based approaches for healing. You’ll also gain practical tools to respond differently in relationships, set boundaries, and navigate challenges more effectively.

THERAPEUTIC STYLE

My therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to your unique life experiences. I work relationally, showing up as an authentic human rather than a blank slate, and create a space where big emotions, relational patterns, and the ways past experiences show up in your life can be explored safely. I draw from a range of modalities - including relational therapy, psychodynamic approaches, and Internal Family Systems (IFS); and integrating skills-based support from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) when helpful.

I am also fully trained in and can provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I tailor our work together based on what resonates most with you. The way I see it, we can use any or all of the tools at our disposal, whenever we need them.

If anything here resonates with you, I’d love to learn more about your story. Reach out today for a complimentary 30-minute phone consultation, and together we’ll start building the life you’ve always wanted.
